- Community Action/Civic Engagement Internship:
Adhikaar is seeking a Civic Engagement Intern to participate in community action projects that address issues within the broad field of civic engagement, including education, government, justice, human rights, media, and public policy. Civic engagement involves fostering connections among our community members, issues, institutions, and the political system. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the intern will engage the Nepali and Tibetan speaking community to fully participate in civic life, including assisting those who are eligible to become citizens, register to vote, and go to the polls, as well as organizing candidate forums and promote civic awareness so that everyone in our community can participate in the political process. The intern will be required to participate in outreach, canvassing, collecting research data, and other administrative tasks as needed. The Community Action Intern must be outgoing, have strong communication and leadership skills, and passion for political issues impacting immigrant communities. Bilingual in Nepali or Tibetan is highly preferred.
- Community Organizing Internship:
The Community Organizing Intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Organizing and Advocacy to engage and build leadership of Nepali-speaking and Tibetan immigrants to take action on issues affecting our community, including workers’ rights, access to healthcare, and immigrant rights. The intern will conduct community outreach, plan and participate in workshops, and assist in participatory action research projects. Must be passionate about human rights and social justice for low-income and immigrant populations. The intern must also be a team player with strong communication skills. The intern should be available to commit for a minimum of 1 year. Bilingual in Nepali or Tibetan is highly preferred.
- Communications and Development Internship:
We are seeking a Communications and Development Intern with a passion for human rights and social justice, who is looking to gain more experience in the field. By working with the Development and Operations Associate, they will help broaden Adhikaar’s visibility and media presence, and develop creative and authentic ways to communicate stories of Adhikaar’s impact. The intern will also support the backbone systems of Adhikaar, assisting with fundraising events, and providing general administrative duties as assigned. The Communications and Development intern will have strong writing skills and attention to detail, be tech savvy, organized and flexible. Bilingual in Nepali or Tibetan is highly preferred.
