Adhikaar, meaning rights in Nepali, is a New York-based non-profit organization working with Nepali communities to promote human rights and social justice for all.

English for Empowerment

Our English for Empowerment classes are a part of our Workers' Rights program, and combine language instruction with information about rights and resources. They have created a strong community among participants. We have weekly 2-hour English classes at introductory, basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.

We have partnered with the Mayor's Office for Adult Education to host Emmy-winning We Are New York (WANY) program, a video-based English learning tool focused on recent immigrants.

We currently hold classes on Sundays and Tuesdays. Our class schedule may change due to other programming. To confirm class schedule and to register, please visit us at our Community Center or call us at 718-937-1117.
