New Jersey Program Fellow

Title: New Jersey Program Fellow, Domestic Work & Civic Engagement

Reports To: Senior Organizer

Time: 15 hrs per week

Duration: September 28, 2026 – May 30, 2027

Location: Hybrid

Compensation: $25 per hour

Position Summary: 

Adhikaar is seeking a dedicated and community-centered New Jersey Program Fellow to support Adhikaar’s Domestic Worker and Civic Engagement Programs. The New Jersey Program Fellow will develop outreach plans, social media resources, and conduct outreach for New Jersey Bill of Rights Education and New Jersey Get Out to Vote for Nepali-speaking New Jersey Residents.  The fellow agrees to complete the outlined Scope of Work for approximately 15 hours per week during the contract term.

This is a temporary, hourly position with a commitment of approximately 15 hours per week, depending on outreach goals. The position may be extended based on program needs and funding availability.

The Fellow will work closely with the Senior Organizer to develop outreach plan, support recruitment, track progress, and help ensure a high-quality, member-centered educational experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outreach and Education

  • Collaborate with the Senior Organizer to develop an outreach plan for New Jersey

  • Collaborate with the Program Team to develop resources for GOTV

  • Conduct outreach in New Jersey to educate Nepali-speaking domestic workers and AAPI New Jersey residents about the General and Primary Election.

  • Conduct one-on-one follow-ups with New Jersey Domestic workers in New Jersey 

  • Support with membership meetings and events in New Jersey

  • Phone and text bank to recruit for events, campaign activities, and general support of Adhikaar Programs

Data, Attendance & Reporting 

  • Maintain accurate outreach records and member information.

  • Submit weekly updates and reports to the supervisor.

  • Conduct member follow-up and communication as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Commitment to Adhikaar’s mission, values, and community-centered approach.

  • Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and diverse multicultural communities.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital learning tools.

  • Ability to work in person on Sundays.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Fluency in both English and Nepali (spoken) required.

Preferred 

  • Ability to read and write in Nepali

  • Community outreach and engagement experience.

  • Flexibility with evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Demonstrated experience working with immigrant and refugee communities.

Expectations & Conduct 

As a representative of Adhikaar, the Adult Education Facilitator is expected to:

  • Follow all Adhikaar policies, procedures, and supervisory guidance.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding participant, staff, and organizational information.

  • Use only Adhikaar-approved systems and platforms for storing or accessing participant data.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and appropriate attire in all program settings.

  • Attend required orientations, trainings, meetings, and staff check-ins.

  • Uphold Adhikaar’s values of dignity, equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.

  • Refrain from soliciting memberships, donations, or funds unless specifically authorized by Adhikaar.

  • Follow the established chain of supervision and keep the direct supervisor informed of work-related matters before contacting management or other staff regarding program issues.

Employment Terms

This is a temporary, part-time hourly position scheduled from September 2026 through May 2027.Employment may be extended based on program needs and funding availability.

Adhikaar reserves the right to amend or terminate this employment arrangement at any time, subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws.

In accordance with New York City’s Earned Safe and Sick Time Act, part-time employees are entitled to accrue up to 40 hours of paid safe and sick leave per calendar year, accruing at a rate of one (1) hourfor every 30 hours worked.
